Richard Wills

My work reflects the contrast within the people and landscape of South Wales. It includes portraiture, natural and industrial landscapes, sporting scenes and exploration of abstract images.

I was born in the Wye Valley and trained in Newport, narrowly missing out on national honours as a first-class rugby player.

I have exhibited at the Royal Academy, Royal Society of Portrait Painters, Royal West of England Academy, Royal Watercolour Society, Pastel Society, Wildlife Society and am a member of The Royal Watercolour Society of Wales. I use oils to paint the hard landscapes of Wales and have also been described as one of the country's leading exponents in watercolour technique.
