Artists of all levels and backgrounds are welcome to submit their work for consideration for Art in Penallt 2025. Head over to our Artist Page to see details of 2023’s exhibiting artists.

In addition to the exhibition, Art in Penallt will also host a series of demos and workshops throughout the event, providing opportunities for artists and visitors to engage with one another and discuss the creative process.

We are delighted to be holding the event in three new locations in Penallt village: Pelham Hall, The Bush Inn and Gwent Wildlife Trust's Pentwyn Farm.  The fine art exhibition will consist of two- and three-dimensional work along with outdoor sculpture. There is plenty of room for a range of stalls in the Makers Market as well as demonstration space for artists and makers. Over the years the exhibition has grown in popularity, with visitor numbers in 2023 reaching over 1000.

This year's exhibition will run from the evening of Friday 22nd August (Private View) to Monday 25th August 2025 with stalls and demonstrations running alongside it.

Art in Penallt is a not for profit organisation, run wholly by volunteers, whose aim is to organise an annual art event in the village of Penallt, near Monmouth, celebrating and selling a wide variety of high-quality artwork whilst raising money for charity. From the proceeds of 2023’s event we were able to make donations totalling £5000 to Monmouth & District Foodbank, The Bridges Centre Monmouth, The Aortic Dissection Charitable Trust, Ted Senior Foundation and St. John Ambulance Cymru.

How to apply

Complete and submit the application form below.

 Applications should include:

  • Artist’s statement of no more than 250 words.

  • Social media pages and website, if relevant.

  • Up to four high quality images of your work.  These should be high-resolution jpegs no greater than 4MB each. Original artwork and CD submissions are not acceptable. Should selected works be sold prior to the event, we will liaise with you to identify a suitable replacement.

  • Please clearly name each image to correspond to the details of the artwork being submitted (this helps us greatly in collating the applications when we meet to make our selection). A failure to do so may lead to your application being rejected.

  • The dimensions of the work in cm to include the frame if applicable, the medium, details of hanging/display requirements and retail selling price of each piece (see below re: commission rates).

  • Whether or not you intend to supply greeting cards and/or prints to display in our browsers.

  • Whether you are interested in running a workshop or demonstration or otherwise volunteering your time.

Provided for gallery exhibitors:

  •  Artist and artwork signage.

  •  Exhibitor information featured on Art in Penallt website.

  •  Social media advertising of artists and event.

  •  Based on previous years 1000+ visitors expected.

  •  Free event admission for exhibiting artists.

  •  Personal invitation to the preview evening for artists and their guests.

  •  Free and accessible parking.

For your information:

  • The work is displayed on a “sale or return” basis.

  • You are responsible for delivering the work and collecting it (if it has not been sold) on the agreed dates which will be found in the contract.

  • The work must be clearly priced to include commission of 40%.  If the work is chosen for display in the garden we will change the price to reflect a 30% commission.  After expenses, the monies raised through this commission are donated entirely to charity.

  • Insurance is the responsibility of the artist, who must provide proof of insurance or a letter stating that they will accept responsibility for their own work if they choose not to secure insurance.  The work submitted for the event is not insured by Art in Penallt. A link to SAA's  exhibition event insurance will be provided for artists selected to exhibit.

  • Should your work be chosen for the event, we will consider this as permission to use the images of artwork submitted in appropriate media for promotional purposes.

Our aim is to have a good blend of repeat artists along with a healthy selection of artists new to our venue and we will usually show an artist for no more than two consecutive years, although we are flexible with this approach depending on the needs of the event.  Even if you have exhibited in the last two events please send in your application as it still may be chosen again this year.

Please submit your application online to be received by Friday 28th February 2025, for selection in March.  If an online submission is not possible then please contact us at admin@artinpenallt.org.uk to discuss how we can facilitate your entry. We will be in touch by the end of April with the outcome of the selection process and further information for selected artists.

If you have any queries please contact Lisa O'Neill or Antonia Pearson on admin@artinpenallt.org.uk or visit us on Facebook.
