rebecca mickleburgh ‘BECKSY’
Rebecca was brought up in the Kent countryside from a young age and has been inspired by her natural surrounding and animals and wildlife in general.
Her palette knife paintings derive from a unique ability to capture vibrancy and contrast while maintaining the form and integrity of her chosen subject.
Rebecca studied at Kent Institute of Art and Design and went on to achieve a BA with Honours at Chelsea College of Art and Design. She paints professionally from her studio in the beautiful Forest of Dean and exhibits across the UK and America.
“I see the painting immediately in my mind on seeing an image or object, it's instinctive. I've always painted, as a child and as an adult. In 2014 I started to paint full time and I don’t have any doubt in my mind that this is what I'm meant to do, I believe in me. My distinctive BECKSY style evolved from frustration and inner torment of being hemmed in by hyperrealist pieces I was churning out. My use of the palette knife set me free to paint with vibrancy, instinct, expression, and a tangibility which can only be unleashed when I can truly be myself. I can orchestrate colours to my tune, most importantly I can maintain integrity.
