Melanie Fritz
I am from southern Germany originally, but have lived in Wales since 2011. More of a self-taught artist (and still learning), I have also studied with the Open College of the Arts, The School of Stitch, The Embroiderers’ Guild and West Dean College.
My main interests are in textiles and painting. Regarding textiles, I focus on mixed-media approaches, including quilting, embroidery, appliqué, crochet and leatherwork. In painting, I currently mainly work in gouache on paper, building my visual vocabulary of animals, objects and still lifes, but also introducing landscape and the human form.
Since 2023, I have been participating in group exhibitions at Queen Street Gallery in Neath and at Hay Castle. I make art for the joy of it, and I hope this shows in my work.
