Harry Pizzey
Harry Pizzey is an artist and designer based in Cardiff, who trained at the Bartlett school of Architecture and The Royal Welsh School of Music and Drama. His primary artistic practice is linocut printmaking which he learnt from his grandmother. With a background in architecture Harry enjoys using this medium to highlight urban areas around Cardiff that might not normally be considered as an artistic subject. Messy backstreets and unseen roofscapes provide great opportunities for the lino cutting process to tease out hidden beauty and form.
He also uses printmaking as a tool for illustration having recently been commissioned by Scotland Street Press to illustrate and design covers for The Empress Irini Series, a series of four historical fiction books for young adults.
Harry is also interested in using printmaking not only on paper but textiles and especially cardboard to start to create 2D/3D forms, expanding the printing medium that is more traditionally strictly two dimensional.
