Gemma Wood
Rooted here in the Wye Valley, I am an artist specialising in Sculpture and Photography.
This unique and beautiful environment shapes me and those that live here. I am always observing the colours and forms in the landscape and how the light falls, transforming its subject from one moment to the next.
Four distinct seasons, nothing stays constant, ever changing.
I create geometric sculptural forms that are made to be a strong focal point in any garden design and indeed internal space. Working in metal and glass that stand the test of time, I particularly enjoy how they are as impactful in the summer as they are in the winter. I love to see how the light reflects off them, how they cast shadows and how they glow with colour. The cut patterns are marks that I see in the natural world around me.
I run the Wye Valley Sculpture Garden in Tintern which is essence is my studio garden where my sculptures are on permanent display. I open for bespoke events, pop up weekends or you can book private appointments if you would like to purchase or commission a piece of work.
