Claire Griffiths
Claire’s work is sensitive and elegiac in nature, showing her personal response to the environment from which she draws her work. She finds revelation in the seemingly ordinary, such as domestic scenes, landscape and portraiture. The work reflects the nature and history of the post-industrial Welsh valleys in which she lives and works.
In her oil paintings, Claire employs an expressive linear style derived from her knowledge and use of printmaking. Drawings and graphic skills are central to her work, as is the development and change inherent in the drawing process, which is laid bare, not hidden within the works.
